Last December 15, 2012 was an important day for the students of UP Manila as members of the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity and Phi Lambda Delta Sorority along with UP Manila Chancellor Manuel B. Agulto, PGH Director Jose Gonzales and UP President Alfredo Pascual held a groundbreaking ceremony for a brand new student’s residence hall. The residence hall that is to be called the PHI Residence Hall and which will be located beside the main building of the College of Allied Medical Professions, will help ease the burden of UP Manila students in looking for an affordable, safe and convenient home away from home.
The ceremony was kicked off by welcoming remarks given by UP Manila Chancellor Manuel B. Agulto Phi 69 followed by Emmanuel Lat, President of Phi Dorm Corp. Both emphasized the commitment of the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity and the Phi Lambda Delta Sorority to excellence and service to our beloved university and to our country.
Alfredo E. Pascual, President of the University of the Philippines, in his address, called the residence hall “an important step in the growth of UP Manila”. He also highlighted the unique roles of the Phi Kappa Mu and Phi Lambda Delta in the progress and development of the University and of the Philippines itself.
To formalize the fraternity and sorority’s commitment to this momentous project, The forementioned individuals along with the Phi Kappa Mu Alumni Association President; Jose Jonas Diño Del Rosario, Phi 86 Phi Kappa Mu Foundation President Benigno Amor Agbayani Jr. Phi 86, Phi Lambda Delta Foundation, Inc. President Lourdes B. Capito signed the Memorandum of Agreement between the University of the Philippines, the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity and the Phi Lambda Delta Sorority.
