Brod Augusto “Tito” Litonjua is widely respected and recognized as the “Father of Philippine Endocrinology” for his immeasurable contributions to the said field, especially in the management and treatment of diabetes. Long before this, Brod Tito had shown much potential in medical school, joining the Venerable Fraternity in 1953 and becoming its Superior Exemplar in 1956. His sons Nonoy Litonjua Φ’82 SE ‘85-’86 and Patrick Litonjua Φ’86 are also proud members of the Phi Kappa Mu.
Brod Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa joined the Fraternity in 1979 and graduated from the College of Medicine in 1983. He then attended the International Postgraduate Course in Surgery at Tel Aviv University in Israel in 1991 and trained in trauma surgery at the Cook County Hospital of Illinois in 1994. He also trained for Emergency and Crisis Management at the University of Geneva, Switzerland in 1996. He was the founding Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Philippine General Hospital in 1994-2005. He is also a board member of the World Association for Disaster and Emergency and the Malaysian Conjoin Board of Emergency Medicine. Currently, he is best known for his post as an Undersecretary of the Department of Health.
