Last December 7, 2012, the Phi Kappa Mu and Phi Lambda Delta once again took time in giving happiness to the patients of the Philippine General Hospital. In their annual event, Only the Phinest: Sa Paskong Kay Saya, Kayo ang Bida which was held at the UP PGH atrium, the brods and sisses attested to the theme by presenting entertainment and gifts to each of the attendees, making the night a memorable one for them this Christmas season.
To kick start the show, the hosts Jonik Antonio Φ12, Erika Ty Φ12 and Katrina Canonero Φ12 entered the stage with their entertaining dance spiel which immediately made the audience smile and laugh. They were kept amused as Angelo Salonga Φ12 drove his way to the stage with his customized sled looking like Santa Claus. The atrium was transformed into a studio of a variety show as it was adorned with various Christmas decorations which brightened up the place. It was surely suited for an event full of contests and performances that made the patients stand up, sing and dance as well.
Raffle prizes ranging from cosmetic gift packs to appliances coming from major and minor sponsors were given away to the audience throughout the show. Fun-filled games were played by volunteer participants and when asked by the energy-filled hosts how the program was, they always exclaimed that it was entertaining! Musical intermission numbers were presented by the bands Never the Strangers and Paraluman. They performed their signature hits, making the audience sing along to them. Actor Joseph Bitangcol, actress Kris Bernal, TV host Joyce Pring and model Pancho Magno also graced the stage with their charm and made the audience scream out as they came to saw the famous personalities. The Indayog Dance Troupe also showed their moves on stage as they presented their signature dance routines. Most of all, the band of Phi Batch 2012, StarEXXX did not fail to catch the audience’s attention as they showed off their musical talents. The band performed acoustic renditions of “Sandalan” and “Hinahanap-hanap Kita” and also took part in the song number of Joyce Pring which also made the audience sing along.
During the end of the program, the gift packages were given to each of the attendees at the atrium. Along with the guest actors, the brods and sisses distributed the packages to the patients in an orderly manner, making sure that everyone gets to receive their gifts for Christmas prepared and given by Phi. Attendees of all ages, including patients who could or could not walk together with their accompanying bantay, went out of the atrium full of smiles and happiness, bringing home with them the entertaining sights and sounds of the bands, personalities and the brods and sisses. All the presenters took time off their busy schedules to grace the stage and made sure it was a night to remember.
The Phi Kappa Mu and Phi Lambda Delta are sure to bring joy to the patients of PGH once more in the years to come not only during the Christmas season, but also at any given time as Phi is always willing to offer whatever they can to only the finest.
