The UP Manila’s first dormitory was launched at UPM grounds, October 21, 2014 at three in the afternoon.
The soft launching of the dorm, officially named the Phi House Dormitory, was attended by UP Manila Chancellor Manuel B. Agulto, Ф1969A, Philippine General Hospital Director Jose C. Gonzales, Ф1969A, members of the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity and Phi Lambda Delta Sorority of the UP College of Medicine and several UPM and PGH officials.
During the ceremony, the Phi House Foundation, represented by Brod Dr. Christopher Malorre E. Calaquian Ф1991, donated the architectural and engineering plans of the dormitory to UP Manila, represented by Chancellor Agulto.
“The dormitory is the first of its kind and shall be the template for the succeeding dormitories to be built in UP Manila compound,” the Chancellor said.
The construction of the four-story dormitory will be completed on December 2014 and will be ready to accept over a hundred students and faculty members, both local and foreign.
The Phi House Dormitory is located between the College of Pharmacy and College of Allied Medical Professions buildings along Pedro Gil Street, Ermita, Manila.
Fr. Maximo G. Barbero of the UPM-PGH Chapel blessed the building.
