A momentous event brought together brothers of the Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity both nationally and internationally to celebrate the 89th Fraternal year. The night was filled with contagious laughter, timeless messages, and hopeful ambition as the brothers ushered in another year of brotherhood.
Moving into a new normal in the pandemic, the celebration was held both in-person and virtually to usher in the shift to face-to-face events. The event started off with an enthusiastic welcome from Brods Paulerni Gulinao Coloyan Φ2022 and Franced Haggai Gamboa Nidar Φ2022 as the hosts, who greeted brods from all over the world for this joyous occasion. This was followed by an earnest Christian and Muslim prayers led by brods Ray Angelo Barbiran Monje Φ2022 and Brod Allen Rafie Tan Najar Φ2019B, respectively. To commemorate the unfortunate passing of the Fraternity’s Loyal Sons the past year, a solemn tribute video was presented – acknowledging the great legacy they have left behind.
Superior Exemplar Denzel Cruz Umerez Φ2019A, SE 2022-2023 recognized the unending support of our alumni brods. He extended his congratulations to the recently graduated brods, from the UPCM Class 2022 and the INTARMED brods of Class 2024. Brods Dennis Pestaño Serrano Φ1984B, President of the PKMAA , together with Jess Urbi Socrates Φ1969B, representative of the PKMI, shared their stories of Brotherhood and expressed their joy to what the Fraternity has achieved thus far. Heartfelt stories of Brotherhood and vision of the year to come were shared by Brod Jose Castillo Gonzales Φ1969A for the Golden Jubilarians, and Brod Christopher Quiambao Victorio Φ1997, SE 2001-2002 for the Silver Jubilarians.
To further liven up the atmosphere and to showcase the talents of the youngest Brods in the Fold, Brods Pierre Angelo Lachica Aliño Φ2022, Masayuki Torrecampo Niwata Φ2022, and Franco Guillermo Se Rondain Φ2022 serenaded the night by their performance of Stand By Me by Ben E. Kim and Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley. Rousing applause and supportive cheers grew as all the Brods sang along, and the warmth of Brotherhood was radiating for everyone to feel. To cap off the program, our very own Venerable Preceptor Justin Daniel Davis Serfino Φ2021 expressed appreciation to the alumni Brods for their continued support to the Fraternity’s causes and vision.
The 89th Year: a commemoration of the year that has passed, and a celebration for what’s to come. The Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity continues to stand tall through its pillars of Excellence, Service, Leadership, and Brotherhood– built by the Brods before us and reinforced by the Brods of today.
